Blinding Flash/Blind - Confused
Ok, I'll make this short and sweet.
I was down in the cathedral of flames h/h'ing it, which is easy enough, as we all know there are some shock phamtons that enjoy using blinding flash. Im playing ranger, I have BHA as me elite skill and i pop it off, as we know it has a slower flight time so there i am with my longbow, i pop it off, its 3/4 way through its flight and blinding flash is cast. Now i am blind, fair enough i thought, i popped my shot off before i was blinded, shouldnt be a problem....how i was wrong, it seems becasue i was blinded before the arrow hit it classed me as blind so therefore i i missed. I was confused as when i popped the shot i could see the target clearly so how one earth could i miss? I know BHA can be 'dodged' but the target was stationary so im putting this down to game mechanics and the fact that i was blinded before the shot hit. This needs to be chnage me thinks |

If this happened exactly as you state, then yes its a flaw.
It would make no more sense then an ele casting fireball, but being hexed with backfire and taking damage after the spell is cast but before impact. However there is a slim chance the Shock Phantom was using another skill to avoid being hit, an enchantment or stance. Or a priest in the area cast Aegis or Reversal of damage. |

It wasnt Reversal of damage as i took no dmg myself, plus there was no healing/prot monks there, i will have to test this out, but im pretty sure it has something to do with the game mechanics.

The game checks for blind when the arrow hits, not when it is fired.

It works exactly as it is intended. All arrow affects are calculated when they strike.
For example, if you fire an arrow with apply poison using a vampiric bow and then switch to a poisounous bow right before the arrow hits, the hit will not give you +5 health and the foe will suffer from poison for 33% longer. @Crom_The_Pale this is not a "flaw" as the game works exactly as intended. Although it is illogical, it is how the game was designed. There are lots of things illogical about a video game. Don't think about it too hard. |

...other possible factor: lag. I've run past a foe, struck another, then found myself body-blocked and dead....killed by the foe I ran past a few seconds ago.
So....you fired the shot and saw it before the flash, but the flash happened first...lag causing the inconsistency of time. Also, the game cheats. AI for mobs has certain built-in cheat systems that allows the AI to "predict" things it shouldn't....see through walls, extend the aggro bubble, etc...programmers do it to make the game react more efficiently/realistically...sometimes it becomes apparent and you catch it cheating...programmers try to hide this, but sometimes it causes a wtf? moment. It isn't there to "cheat" is the sense that it wants to win, but to create a more lifelike gaming environment. Sucks when you see it...like watching a movie and catching a glimpse of the boom mic dropping into the shot (ruins the suspension of disbelief).
